Stalin and Animal Farm

Happy Wednesday,

I’m sorry I can’t be there today as I’m ill and in need of staying home. I trust that the person covering for me is also awesome and full of amazing insights into life and literature and will be treated with the utmost respect! Be good! Be cool! Put your thinking caps on and get ready to delve into some text!

Today, you will begin with a read aloud of chapter 5. Action is rising and tension is forming.

Silently read Stalin:

Chapter 7 and Chapter 8.

Then you will Box and Bullet each one in a document in your Animal Farm folder.

Some discussion questions will be brought up. Verbal with one another in a friendly and respectful way.

After the discussion, please answer the following in your Reading Response journals:

1. Explain the significance of how the animals now arrange themselves when they enter the barn to receive their orders as compared to the description in Chapter One.

2. What is the importance of the dogs accompanying Squealer when he comes to talk to the animals?

Homework is to read chapter 6 and answer the following:

Why does Napoleon decide to engage in trade with neighboring farms?

What strikes you about how their memories are functioning at this point?

If all goes well I will see you tomorrow. If you are off to play sports then I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing your stories of conquest and triumph!

Best,

Mr. McDavitt
